Still Hungry

Sometimes, I forget that Jesus was fully man.  I mean, between all the walking on water, turning water into wine, healing the sick, and rising from the dead, it’s easy to overlook the fact that He got tired and hungry.  But, He did.

One such occasion was recorded for us by Matthew (21:19).  While all the details are unknown, we know that Jesus was hungry, and seeing a fig tree in the distance, He approached it.  However, when He got there, He found no fruit, and immediately cursed the tree.

As I read the encounter, I was reminded that Jesus was pretty serious about His fruit back then.  Frankly, I think He’s just as serious about finding fruit today too, and I wonder if He still gets frustrated when He inspects our lives and finds no fruit growing there.

Christ is hungry – will He find any fruit in our lives?  –Dave

“Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered.” (Matt 21:19)
