Understanding Can Wait

Understanding can wait

As I read the first couple of chapters of Matthew, I was genuinely impressed with Joseph – specifically, with how he handled some pretty ‘unusual’ requests from God. “Don’t be afraid to take her as your wife Joseph, because the child she carries is Mine.”  Later, after Jesus was born – “I know it’s the middle of the night, but get up! Take Mary and the baby and flee to Egypt – NOW!”

Each time, Joseph obeyed the instructions he received without hesitation. Had he waited to follow God’s directions to go to Egypt until he clearly understood, it may have been too late to save the Savior. Joseph’s actions remind us that when God gives a clear command, our understanding of His ways can wait, but our obedience to Him cannot. –Dave

“And this is love, that we walk in obedience to his commands.” (2 John 1:6)
