“God as a fetus. Holiness sleeping in a womb. The Creator of life being created. God was given eyebrows, elbows, two kidneys, and a spleen. He stretched against the walls and floated in the amniotic fluids of His mother. God had come near.” (Max Lucado in God Came Near).
God came near in the form of a baby; and that baby changed EVERYTHING. All of time is centered around His birth. Time before Jesus is literally called “BC – before Christ.” Time after Him, AD, “anno Domini – in the year of the Lord.” Even modern attempts to remove the reference to Christ in the determination of time still point to His incarnation. For “Common Era” and “Before Common Era” are still divided according to the event we celebrate today.
Jesus changed all of time; He changed the way we relate to God; He changed the way we relate to one another; and He offers a chance to stand sinless before a Holy God by placing our faith in Him. Amazing changes, amazing grace
We are celebrating His arrival, and the changes He has made, with you today – Merry Christmas!
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)
