He’s got the whole world in His hands. He’s got the whole, wide world in His hands. He’s got the whole world in His hands – He’s got the whole world in His hands.
It’s among the first songs that preschoolers learn in church. Thankfully, it’s a truth that sticks with us throughout life. Recently, those lyrics came back to mind when I read this, “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands” (Isaiah 49:16).
The song could easily say, “He’s got the whole world ON His hands.” As I thought about it, I was struck by just how big those palms must be in order for the individual names of each of His children to be written on His hands. They are big enough to create and hold the world. Big enough to keep everything running as He intends for it to run. Yet, intimate enough to care about the individual hairs on every head.
He is infinite enough to carry the world; yet, intimate enough to care for you. He has not forgotten about you, and you will not fall through His hands. Give thanks that this is the God we worship and serve. –Dave
